First off, permit me merely state that upon finding this recipe, i was and then excited to brand this cake for my dogs. Both have sweet tooths and will consume just well-nigh anything. Afterward reading so many 5 star reviews, i idea i struck gilded. After making the cake exactly as instructed, both my dogs sniffed and walked away. Thinking maybe they were merely total (which is near impossible because theyre abysmal pits when information technology comes to food) i left it out gor them. the post-obit solar day i observe it untouched.

Nosotros had a family political party and 4 dogs were there, all just i had a altogether correct around our political party. I made these birthday cakes for the dogs and they LOVED them. I added a little chip of cinnamon and a small corporeality of salt to the dry ingredients. When I was mixing the wet into the dry, it was too dry (I didn't reallly measure out the PB and so that might be why), and so I added some chicken broth that I had. I did use the honey. I baked them in pocket-sized aluminum pie pans that are for craven pot pies. They were perfectly baked in the 40 minutes. My husband decided to try a piece to run across what it tasted like and he actually liked it. He kept feeding 1 piece to the canis familiaris and i piece to himself hahahaha. I will definitely make this in the future for the pups!!

I fabricated the recipe into "Pup Cakes" for my Labs' birthdays. I added a couple shakes of cinnamon and substituted applesauce for the oil. These looked improve than most of my regular cupcakes or muffins with perfectly rounded tops. I tried a modest piece and it tasted like a very banal muffin. I made a frosting of peanut butter mixed with a little cream cheese and piped it on pinnacle. Our dogs thought they were fantastic! I was a picayune concerned because one of my pups swallowed his whole.
04/28/2012
A great Doggy Recipe! I made these in mini muffin pans! Decorated with Fat Gratis Cream Cheese composite with Carbohydrate Free Peanut Butter Frosting Mix. Left out the Oil. Not need for it. The peanut butter has enough oil for the cake. Also Dogs should not have white flour, Yous must use whole wheat flour.
12/02/2011
This was the Best doggie recipe yet!!! It was so easy and they smelled and then adept! What a care for after all the icky liver recipes I have fabricated! We had to brand substitutions for our boxer who has nutrient allergies - 1 mashed banana for the egg, rice flour instead of all-purpose, and no carrots (only just because we didn't accept whatsoever on mitt). I likewise added a dash of cinnamon to the dry ingredients before mixing it all in. Broiled in cupcake pan for individual-size servings and frosted with a lilliputian dollop of chunky peanut butter. The event? The perfect banana-peanut butter-honey-cinnamon once-a-yr special birthday treat!

Although the batter looks really dry, they bake up moist and soft on the inside. I used a cupcake tin, which fabricated about half-dozen cupcakes. My Precious loves them--great treat for her seventh altogether today! Cheers!
01/17/2013
My high german shepherd LOVED LOVED LOVED this cake. He ate the entire thing! Did the same equally others used peanut butter mixed with honey. Placed his kibble on peak, and I sliced some of his doggy bacon strips in thin pieces and lined that effectually the side of the cake.
02/16/2013
My canis familiaris loved this from the time I prepped it to the time I gave it to him. I wanted to brand him a cake for his first birthday. I followed the directions other then using a sifter (I used a fork to sift the blistering soda into the wheat flour). I also didn't have a cake pan so I used a pie pan. I dont know if its because I used a gas stove, only mine was adept to go in that pie pan in 25 min at 350F. I used a frosting of whipped cream chz, plain yogurt, honey and some cinnamon. But mix to the consistancy yous want. Add the whipped crm chz first and then the yogurt little by little. It stays thicker that way. Put information technology in the fridge for a few hours then I frosted the cake added a few pup treats and carrots for ornament. My domestic dog LOVED It! Information technology was easy to make too! Im definitely using this recipie again!
09/28/2013
Neat base recipe, i used pumpkin instead if carrots and made cupcakes (12)they did not need the full twoscore min, just melt across 20 min until top springs back. Fabricated a yogurt, pumpkin and dear glaze and topped with mini basic fabricated with peanut butter and iced with pumpkin cream cheese. I crumbled some dog treats and covered the cupcake edges with them. They were perfectly moist and tasty, considering they are domestic dog treats.

I just made this for my mini dachshund's, Frankie, 1st Altogether. He admittedly loved it! I fabricated a mini layer block with Easy Bake Oven pans, and made mini pupcakes with the rest. 06/29/2011

12/02/2012
It's my dog'south birthday today, and then I wanted to bake something succulent for him, and these definitely did the play a trick on. I cut the recipe in half and made 4 decently-sized cupcakes in foil baking cups on a cookie sheet. I didn't have any carrots, and then I added a scrap of chicken broth for moisture and so fried upward 2 strips of bacon. Near of the bacon went into the batter, and I saved four pocket-size pieces to put on top of the cupcakes. While the cupcakes were baking, I poured merely a little bit of chicken broth into the bacon pan and scooped the resulting mixture into a bowl and added a little more peanut butter for a "frosting." He. went. crazy. I had more than fun watching him devour the cupcake than he did eating it, I'm sure. Great recipe. :)
01/30/2012

04/24/2012

I am giving this recipe a five-star because I gave it to 3 dogs, and they ate it right upwardly fast. I made effectually 12 cupcakes with this mix, but I didn't accept any honey, so the batter was pretty dry. I merely baked those for half an 60 minutes. I was a bit curious equally to whether the dogs would actually desire it, but they certainly did!
02/20/2010
After looking through several canis familiaris cake recipes online that involved alot of liver and beef which i'm not to keen on cooking, I settled on this 1 for Giacomos (my 1 year old pom) start birthday. I iced information technology with a peanut butter and yogurt icing which mimicked human icing as much equally possible in look. I gave him and his dog-friends a slice with a frosty paws ice cream and he loved it! My mother'due south greyhound did steal the residuum though.
05/25/2015
This was fun and piece of cake. I made the following adjustments based on a dogs diet: 1) Almond Flour vs white or wheat flour. (Rice flour would work also) 2) one banana vs. canola oil (apple sauce would piece of work if y'all don't have a assistant). Nosotros used organic honey and natural peanut butter (lots of oil in natural PB). I used some cream cheese, a little peanut butter, a splash of milk and a splash of water to brand icing. We broiled this in a 9in round pan. Baked for 35 mins and it looked over washed but was not. The birthday male child and his guests devoured their treat in minutes.

We shared it with three other dogs and they devoured information technology likewise! Very elementary to make, volition definitely make once again and definitely recommend yous try this recipe for your fury best-friend!

This was very good cake, both for our birthday pups and us! The people servings had ice cream on pinnacle, otherwise it is fairly dry. I admit I had to make a few substitutions due to allergies (almond butter and grain-gratis flour), and I added a sprinkle of cinnamon, merely the flavour was wonderful. I baked it in a canis familiaris-shaped pan (from Ikea) in a convection oven and it was washed in 20 minutes. I think I volition play around with information technology to make it a bit more moist for people!
08/15/2012
These deserve 10 stars co-ordinate to my dog, Jay. : ) I used a mesomorphic, natural peanut butter and canned pumpkin instead of carrots since these were a last minute conclusion to brand, and the pumpkin was easier. I too used plain greek yogurt for half the oil, and I used olive oil for the balance of the oil. I did use ww flour, and I also added a couple tablespoons flaxseed meal for some added health benefits. He admittedly loves them, and they were a perfect b-day treat. I've already shared with my fellow canis familiaris-loving friends! Cheers for the recipe...I am definitely making them over again!

08/26/2014
This is a great recipe for dogs! I did make a few changes to it though that are not drastic and really don't require any extra piece of work. I changed the flour to rice flour every bit it is easier to assimilate for dogs and I cut the amount of carrot in half and instead added in half of a mashed banana. I too baked them in a cupcake pan and so it would be a small block for my dog because she has a sensitive tummy. I besides added a frosting fabricated of fat free Greek yogurt and peanut butter. with a tiny bit of honey. She devoured information technology!
09/09/2012
Really easy and my dog loved it. She is pretty sensitive and it didn't upset her stomach at all. The concoction does wait dry just bakes and rises nicely.
03/23/2015
My "Bear" loved his 5 year altogether block. I plant a recipe for an crawly icing to top off the cake. 3 TBSP Greek Yogurt + ane & one/ii TBSP Peanut Butter; I did have to triple the icing ingredients for it to cover the cake, only "Acquit" was so excited to lick the spatula afterwards I mixed the icing.

The batter was extremely thick, not similar a normal batter at all which worried me but I double checked I'd washed everything correctly and put it in the oven. When I took it out it had not risen at all ) and was more the texture of a cookie than a cake so non very happy with this.
05/27/2012
I made this for my pup's starting time altogether. Both of my dogs loved information technology. I made an icing out of mashed potatoes, water, and majestic food coloring. 03/14/2014
Peachy recipe! My three dogs devoured this well-nigh equally soon as I set down the bowls.
09/18/2016
My dogs admittedly loved this and they gobbled information technology up immediately! Also, do use whole wheat flour rather than plain flour for dogs! I did make quite a few changes to the recipe, by replacing the egg with assistant (just banana isn't much of a binding agent and so it was a little crumbly), leaving out the dearest, and making it equally a muffin rather than a cake. I'll try using coconut oil in the future as I feel similar it'll be a healthier alternative. Also, baking time for muffins is around fifteen mins. Overall, dandy recipe.
03/21/2015
Practiced recipe! I did sub unsweetened Apple sauce instead of oil to make information technology a flake more healthy as I planned to brand these into cupcakes and water ice them. I made these for my girl's tertiary birthday. Doubled information technology to make 12 and mixed a few tabular array spoons of cream cheese with all natural peanut butter for icing. Used whole wheat flour and natural lead in the cupcakes too. They tasted keen and she LOVED them. My only suggestion is that twoscore minutes might exist nigh 10 minutes too long as they were a scrap dry... hard to say if it's the blistering or the recipe that made them so. Either fashion, she didn't care 1 bit.
02/07/2014
